Wakadinali, Ssaru Light Up Mombasa at Tusker Oktobafest
Mombasa turned up for a night of Kenyan music, beer and entertainment as Tusker Oktobafest brought its nationwide festival to 1922, Nyali, on Sunday, 1 November.
The event brought together music lovers for performances by some of Kenya’s popular homegrown acts, including Wakadinali, Ssaru and Keteh, as the festival continued its celebration of local talent and culture.
The Mombasa edition followed earlier stops in Eldoret, Nanyuki and Nairobi, extending the festival’s reach beyond its traditional October celebrations.
Wakadinali, Ssaru and Keteh Take the Stage
The entertainment kicked off with Keteh, representing the Base to Billboardz music collective. The group introduced its party track, Umebant, setting the mood for the night.
Gengetone star Ssaru followed with an energetic performance that kept the crowd engaged.
Wakadinali brought the evening to a close with a performance featuring Scar, Domani Munga, Sir Bwoy and Sewersydaa, delivering the group’s signature sound to the Mombasa audience.
With free entry, festival-goers also enjoyed a selection of beers from Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL), covering lagers, stouts, ciders and malts.
Oktobafest Takes the Celebration Beyond October
Rediet Yigezu, Marketing Manager at Kenya Breweries Limited, said the strong turnout across the festival’s different locations showed growing demand for local entertainment experiences.
She noted that the nationwide expansion would allow more consumers to take part in the celebrations beyond the traditional month of beer.
The festival will continue with more stops across the country in November:
- Nebraska, Ugunja – 7 November
- Space Next Door, Nakuru – 14 November
- Big Tree, Mombasa – 21 November
Meanwhile, beer lovers can look forward to flash sales and discounts on selected KBL brands at supermarkets and participating e-commerce platforms.
Celebrating Kenyan Music and Culture
Now in its seventh year, Tusker Oktobafest was conceptualised in 2019 as a platform celebrating beer, local music and East African culture.
The festival features more than 10 beer varieties, including Tusker Lager, Tusker Malt, Tusker Lite, Tusker Cider, Guinness, Balozi, Manyatta, WhiteCap, WhiteCap Crisp and Pilsner.
With its November tour dates lined up, the festival is taking its mix of music and entertainment to more towns, giving audiences another opportunity to experience performances from Kenyan artists.
