How Visa Made My FIFA World Cup Final Even Better

There are Sundays that simply feel different.

For me, it started with a drive along Thika Road. Unlike the usual weekday rush, the highway was calm, with fewer cars, fewer boda bodas and an open stretch of road that made the journey surprisingly relaxing. Sometimes, a smooth drive is all you need to set the tone for a great day.

My destination was Nairobi Street Kitchen, where football fans had gathered to watch the FIFA World Cup 26â„¢ Final. Even before I arrived, Visa had already made the experience easier. Paying for fuel with my Visa card was quick and seamless, leaving me free to focus on enjoying the evening ahead.

Where football fans came together

The atmosphere at Nairobi Street Kitchen was electric.

Large screens, lively conversations, great food and music created the perfect backdrop for football’s biggest night. Fans from across Nairobi gathered to cheer on their teams, celebrate every goal and soak in the excitement that only a World Cup final can bring.

Hosted by Visa, the watch party welcomed more than 250 football fans, Visa cardholders, banking and fintech partners, and content creators. Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed live performances, interactive games, giveaways and football-themed experiences before settling in to watch the final.

A celebration beyond the final whistle

The event marked the grand finale of Visa’s month-long FIFA World Cup 26â„¢ campaign in Kenya.

During the tournament, Visa connected with fans through activations at Junction Mall and Sarit Centre, collaborated with local content creators and unveiled a FIFA-inspired mural by celebrated Kenyan illustrator Chelwek Chela.

The watch party brought all those experiences together, creating one final celebration for football lovers.

Speaking during the event, Chad Pollock, Vice President and General Manager for Visa East Africa, said football has a unique way of bringing Kenyans together. He noted that the month-long campaign reflected Visa’s commitment to investing in experiences that connect with communities and celebrate what people genuinely love.

As the Worldwide Partner of the FIFA World Cup 26â„¢, Visa continues to use football as a platform to connect people, culture and digital payments.

More than just watching football

What stood out most wasn’t only the match. It was the entire experience.

From an easy Sunday drive and effortless cashless payments to great food, entertainment and the shared excitement of watching the final with hundreds of passionate fans, the evening felt like a celebration of community as much as football.

It was a reminder that sometimes the best experiences aren’t just about the destination. They’re about the moments that bring people together and this was one of them.
