MultiChoice and CANAL+ Launch Novelas+ Channel for Kenyan Telenovela Fans
New channel to bring popular dramas from Latin America, Turkey, Portugal and the United States to DStv and GOtv viewers
MultiChoice, a CANAL+ company, has announced the launch of Novelas+, a dedicated telenovela channel that will now be available to English- and Portuguese-speaking audiences across Africa.
The new channel launches on July 1 and will offer viewers a daily lineup of drama series from Latin America, Turkey, Portugal, and the United States. Novelas+ builds on the success of Novelas TV, which has become one of the most-watched channels in French-speaking Africa.
In Kenya, Novelas+ will be available on DStv Access and GOtv Plus, giving subscribers access to some of the world’s most popular drama series.
Bringing Global Drama Closer to African Audiences
According to MultiChoice, the new channel reflects the growing popularity of telenovelas among African viewers.
“Our diverse audiences across Africa are united in their love for a juicy telenovela,” said Nomsa Philiso, Director of Content General Entertainment for English- and Portuguese-speaking Africa.
“We’re bringing all the passionate flavours of global dramas to their screens, with new episodes every day. Quality is everything, and we’re curating, localising and scheduling only the best for our viewers, including Turkish telenovelas, which have become a global sensation,” she added.
The channel will air four different series every weekday, with a new episode of each show broadcast daily. Viewers can expect stories filled with romance, betrayal, family conflict, revenge, and dramatic twists.\
Strong Lineup of International Hits
English-speaking audiences will enjoy several high-profile productions.
Among the featured titles is Avenida Brasil, one of Brazil’s most successful television dramas. The series stars Débora Falabella as a woman seeking revenge after being abandoned as a child and Adriana Esteves as the show’s notorious villain.
Viewers can also look forward to Be My Sunshine, a Turkish romantic comedy starring Ayça Ayşin Turan and Alp Navruz.
Another major attraction is Doménica Montero, featuring Mexican actress Angelique Boyer in the lead role.
The lineup also includes Sin and Roses, which follows the dramatic collapse of a successful businessman’s life after a family secret emerges.
Portuguese Viewers Get Exclusive Regional Content
Portuguese-speaking audiences will receive their own dedicated Novelas+ channel.
One of the flagship shows is A Fazenda, a story centered on inheritance, family secrets, and life on a farm in Angola.
The channel will also feature Forbidden Love, a series that became a ratings phenomenon in Turkey and remains one of the country’s most popular dramas.
In addition, Portuguese-language versions of Doménica Montero and Sin and Roses will be available.

The launch of Novelas+ forms part of the ongoing collaboration between MultiChoice and CANAL+ to expand entertainment options across Africa.
By introducing a dedicated telenovela channel, the companies aim to give viewers greater access to globally acclaimed dramas while catering to the growing demand for serialized storytelling.
Starting July 1, Kenyan subscribers on DStv Access and GOtv Plus will be able to enjoy a continuous lineup of romance, intrigue, rivalry, and suspense through Novelas+, bringing some of the world’s most-loved telenovelas to local screens.
