Manyatta Celebrates What Home Means to Kenyans
What does home mean to you?
For some, it is a familiar song. For others, it is the language they grew up speaking, a favourite meal, a childhood neighbourhood or simply being around people who make them feel like they belong.
Those different meanings of home came together at iToka_thecrossing, where Kenyan culture, creativity and identity took centre stage.
Manyatta joined the celebration as a partner of the event, bringing its “Taste Like Home” platform into a space exploring the many ways Kenyans experience and express culture.
Home looks different for everyone
iToka_thecrossing brought together music, art, conversations and shared experiences, creating a space where different sides of Kenyan culture could meet.
It was less about defining what Kenyan culture should look like and more about seeing how people are already shaping it.
For Manyatta Brand Manager Catherine Wahu, that was at the heart of the partnership.
“Home is deeply personal, and it means something different to everyone,” she said, noting that Manyatta wants to create spaces where people can connect, express themselves and experience a genuine sense of belonging.
The event reflected a generation that is not afraid to reinterpret culture while still carrying pieces of where it came from.
And that is where Manyatta’s “Taste Like Home” idea comes in.
Rather than giving home one definition, the brand is choosing to meet people in the spaces where culture is being created, shared and reimagined.
Because home is not necessarily one place.
Sometimes, it is a sound, a smell, a memory or a person.
Sometimes, it is simply that feeling of finding something that feels like you.
And sometimes, you find it where different cultures, stories and experiences cross.
