Glovo Trains 50 Riders in Mombasa on Road Safety
Glovo Kenya has stepped up its rider safety efforts with training for approximately 50 couriers in Mombasa. The session focused on safer riding practices and responsible road use.
Held in partnership with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), Mombasa County Inspectorate and the National Police Service Traffic Department, the training gave riders practical guidance on navigating roads safely.
Riders Get Practical Safety Training
The session covered traffic regulations, hazard awareness and defensive riding. It also gave couriers an opportunity to engage directly with road safety authorities on the challenges they face while working.
Liz Wambua, Head of Operations at Glovo Kenya, said rider safety requires continuous engagement and collaboration.
“Safety is not a once-off conversation,” she said, noting that the Mombasa training would help riders gain practical knowledge they can apply daily.
Samuel Musumba, Head of Programs at NTSA, added that road safety is a shared responsibility. He urged riders to follow traffic regulations and make safer decisions on the road.

Glovo Expands Rider Welfare Support
Beyond training, Glovo says its rider welfare efforts include personal accident insurance for couriers operating through its platform in Kenya.
The Mombasa session builds on a similar programme held in Nairobi in February, where Glovo introduced its voluntary in-app Rider Telematics feature.
The tool helps riders monitor their riding patterns, including speed, acceleration and braking. It also provides insights intended to encourage safer riding habits.
As delivery services continue to grow, Glovo says it will keep working with riders and public agencies to promote road safety and improve courier welfare across Kenya.
