Java House Brings Its Coffee-and-Dining Experience to Buruburu
Java House has opened its first Buruburu branch, bringing its familiar coffee, food and casual dining experience closer to residents and families in Eastlands.
The new outlet is located along Rabai Road at the junction with Jogoo Road, making it an easy stop for people moving between Buruburu, Donholm, Komarock and other parts of Nairobi.
A New Spot for Eastlands
Buruburu has grown from a largely residential neighbourhood into a busy community with shops, businesses and services serving its expanding population.
For Java House, the new branch is about meeting that changing lifestyle without customers having to travel into Nairobi’s traditional commercial areas for a coffee or meal.
Speaking during the launch, Java House Group CEO Priscilla Gathungu said the location was chosen to serve both the local community and people passing through the area.
The branch sits at TotalEnergies along a busy commuter route, making it a potential meeting point for families, commuters and travellers.
A Taste of Buruburu on the Walls
One of the more interesting features of the new outlet is its artwork.
Java House has a tradition of commissioning artwork that reflects the neighbourhood where each branch is located. The Buruburu outlet follows the same idea, with murals inspired by some of the area’s familiar landmarks and cultural symbols.
The artwork features the Buruburu Institute of Fine Arts (BIFA), the famous Buruburu matatus, Makadara Railway Station and historic Mutindwa Market.
For Java House, the artwork is also a nod to Buruburu’s contribution to Nairobi’s art and cultural scene.

Java House Hits 114 Outlets
The Rabai Road branch is Java House’s 114th outlet across East Africa.
Founded in 1999, the brand has grown from its original focus on gourmet coffee into a casual dining chain with outlets across three East African countries and 18 cities.
Java House has also expanded its portfolio through sister brands including Planet Yoghurt, 360 Degrees Pizza and Kukito.
Beyond its restaurants, the Java Foundation supports initiatives around responsible sourcing, farmers, local artists and school feeding through its partnership with Food For Education.
For Buruburu residents, though, the newest addition is a little closer to home another spot to grab coffee, meet friends, have a meal or simply take a break while navigating Eastlands.
