The National Authority for the Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has extended the deadline for its national secondary school essay competition to 29th May 2026, giving students across Kenya more time to participate in the initiative aimed at combating substance abuse.

The extension is in response to student complaints about managing academic and extracurricular activities, like examinations, sports, and everyday study. NACADA acknowledged these pressures, encouraging students to use the extra time to create meaningful and compelling contributions.

“You now have extra days to write your way to victory,” the authority said in its announcement, encouraging students to consult their teachers, refine their ideas, and actively engage in the competition.
